Lady of Daemons
About: A historical-fantasy YA novel set in an alternate 1880s Wales, where ghostly daemons “infect” (possess) a few unlucky souls and, far away, sky pirate feuds threaten to destabilise the Continent.
Status: Currently undergoing line edits. I intend to begin querying in January 2019.
Synopsis: Beth Bishop, infected and recently orphaned, works to unravel the mystery of her cousin’s madness. In doing so, she comes to realise that there are forces at work far beyond her reckoning, and that daemons are capable of far more than she ever imagined. Find out more →
The Final Days
About: A historical-fantasy YA novel that takes place in the same world as Lady of Daemons, but explores a radically different aspect of it. While Lady of Daemons focuses on…well, daemons, The Final Days is all about sky pirates. Action! Adventure! Violence! Emotions!
Status: Currently being drafted. I intend to have the first draft finished by December 2018.
Synopsis: Five young sky pirates swear revenge on the indomitable skyship that took everything from them. Their first task: to find for the mysterious Spider, who will either gift them the information they need to destroy their enemy once and for all…or kill them.
None of This Means Anything
About: A contemporary YA fantasy and the tattered remains of my 2013 NaNoWriMo novel. I loved the characters and the magic, but the plot was…well. Let’s just say the plot had some issues.
Status: Currently shelved. I hope to start redeveloping it within the next two or three years.
Synopsis: Jamie Dawson is different but not special. Different, because she’s a selkie. Not special, because she doesn’t have a chosen one destiny to live up to or anything like that. She just happens to be a girl who can turn into a seal—a detail that’s about as important as her Mario Kart high score.
But not everyone sees it that way.
