NaNoWriMo 2017 is officially over! Did you win? I…did not. That’s not to say that I got nothing out of it; I put 10k into the first draft of The Final Days and I got a much-needed brain break from Lady of Daemons.
My magnificent critique partners, however, did not. Faith, Ríona, and Mikaela all critiqued pretty sizable chunks of Lady of Daemons this past November, and for that, I am very grateful.
Now that NaNoWriMo’s over, it’s time for writers everywhere to set those messy first drafts aside and focus on having fun with writing. Maybe you want to start a half-dozen stories and abandon each one. Maybe you want to set aside your own work and critique someone else’s (I’m going to be a bit cheeky here and let you know that I’m on the hunt for two more CPs!). Or maybe you just want to set aside writing altogether and not think about anything except eating as many Christmas cookies as is humanly possible.
However you spend your December, I hope you have a good one!
As I mentioned at the top of the post, I’m looking for a few more CPs to help me rip my manuscript to shreds (in a loving way). Lady of Daemons is a YA historical fantasy about Victorian girls who share their bodies with daemons and struggle to keep themselves safe and sane. If that sounds like something up your alley, please send me an email or give me a shout on Twitter—and do know that, as a critique partner, I’m more than happy to give you feedback on anything you’d like!
